Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-inch springform pan with parchment paper and lightly grease the sides.
- Make the brownie base: whisk melted butter and sugar together. Add eggs, then sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Fold in chocolate chips if using. Spread batter evenly in the pan.
- Pre-bake the brownie layer for 12 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes while preparing cheesecake.
- Beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar gradually, then eggs one at a time. Mix in vanilla, sour cream, and flour just until combined.
- Pour cheesecake batter over the cooled brownie base. Smooth the top and bake 40-45 minutes, until the center is almost set with a slight jiggle.
- Turn off oven, crack door, and let cool gradually to prevent cracking. Chill at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
