Description

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended for best flavor)

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp sesame oil

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust for heat preference)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

1 cup broccoli florets (optional)

2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)

Sesame seeds (optional garnish)


Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles, about 6–8 minutes.
  3. Drain excess fat, leaving a little if desired for flavor.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Mix well to coat.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. If using broccoli, add it during the last 3–4 minutes of cooking, cover briefly to steam until tender-crisp.
  7. Ensure rice is cooked and ready to serve.
  8. Taste beef mixture and adjust seasoning (soy sauce for salt, sugar for sweetness, red pepper flakes for heat).
  9. Scoop rice into bowls and top with beef mixture.
  10. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve warm.
